Working Families United for New Jersey, Inc. proudly launched the “One Pathway, Many Voices, Stronger Communities” grassroots initiative on April 26, 2014. This comprehensive long-term initiative will provide an opportunity for thousands of legal residents to become U.S. citizens, to register to vote, to learn how our electoral process works, and for DREAMER students to renew their DACA applications. Over 100 coalition partners participated in the kickoff event, approximately 50 legal residents from North, Central, and South Jersey received assistance with their U.S. citizenship applications thanks to the dedicated support of 25 volunteers and eight pro-bono attorneys.

In New Jersey alone, there are approximately 390,000 legal permanent residents who are eligible to apply for U.S. Citizenship and become engaged voters. The purpose of this campaign is simple: we assist aspiring Americans to realize their own dreams of U.S. citizenship and engage them in our civic process to build stronger communities for the benefit of all.

Working Families United for New Jersey, Inc. is also committed to working with many of the organizations around the state which sponsor citizenship clinics. In fact, we recently partnered with National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) which organized a comprehensive citizenship clinic on Saturday, May 17th at the Rutgers School of Law in Newark, providing no-cost services to individuals and families applying for U.S. citizenship. The event provided an opportunity for at least 50 people to receive guidance and assistance with their citizenship applications – a process that can be both daunting and intimidating if approached alone.
