“One Pathway, Many Voices, Stronger Communities” Grassroots Initiative

On behalf of Working Families United for New Jersey, Inc. (WFUNJ), we would like to personally invite you to volunteer for our new grassroots initiative: “One Pathway, Many Voices, Stronger Communities.” Thisinitiative is part of a national campaign between the National Partnership for New Americans (NPNA) and the national AFL-CIO that seeks to empower 390,000 Legal Permanent Residents eligible to become U.S. citizens today in New Jersey, register thousands of voters, and educate our communities on their voting and labor rights.

The event will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the LIUNA Local 472 union hall located at 700 Raymond Boulevard in Newark, New Jersey.

The initiative is the largest and most comprehensive grassroots-based civic engagement project ever created in New Jersey. Under the initiative, volunteers from immigrant groups, legal community associations, labor unions, faith-based and civil rights organizations, and student associations will conduct the following activities:

  • Citizenship Application Clinic
  • Citizenship Exam Workshops
  • Voter Registration
  • Voter Education
  • Voter Engagement
  • DACA Renewals for DREAMers
  • Wage and Hour Clinic
  • Free Public Notary Services and Public Notary Fraud Education

We need your help!  We are currently recruiting a diverse group of volunteers from all our coalition partners, who speak various languages, to get trained and aid before, during and after each event.  We have several shifts throughout each event to encourage participation.  We will hold a training session for the volunteers of the initiative two weeks before the event in Newark.

We also need your organizational commitment to promote this comprehensive initiative with your networks and your constituents.  Can we count on your support? Please contact WFUNJ Executive Director Edward Correa at 609-203-3989 or via email at e[email protected] for more information, to sign up as a volunteer, or to request promotional materials.
