Hudson County Citizenship Clinic

Today, dozens of immigrant families took one step closer to realizing the American Dream by utilizing the services offered through the We Are One New Jersey – Hudson County Center in Jersey City. While the center is opened year-round, the citizenship clinic held today is designed to assist a larger number of immigrants in an open-house setting.

The services offered during the clinic included citizenship application and fee waiver assistance, translation, referral services, public notary, DACA application assistance, and pro bono legal advice from volunteer attorneys.

“While our coalition continues to support comprehensive immigration reform at the national level, we realize that we already have the power to streamline the path to citizenship for thousands of families in our communities by offering comprehensive guidance and information services,” said Working Families United for New Jersey, Inc. Executive Director Edward Correa, who coordinated our coalition’s first citizenship clinic last April. “Today, our diverse coalition is proud to continue its commitment to empowering and uplifting New American families so that they can realize the American Dream while strengthening our communities and democracy.”

“With over 256 grassroots coalition partners, Working Families United for New Jersey, Inc. is proud to support the efforts of the We Are One New Jersey – Hudson Center and raise awareness of the services being offered,” stated Working Families United for New Jersey, Inc. Chair Charles Hall, Jr. “With citizenship comes the promise of greater economic stability, voting rights, and pride in a new national identity. Immigration has and always will be the key to building a stronger, more diverse, more connected state and nation.”

There are nearly 400,000 Legal Permanent Residents (LPRs) living in New Jersey, who are currently eligible to become citizens. However, for many of these individuals and families, the process can be challenging. The opening of the We Are One New Jersey – Hudson County Center marks a turning point for our state and thousands of New Americans who have long dreamed of becoming U.S. citizens.

Your efforts made this possible, and we hope that you will continue to help us promote the services offered at the We Are One New Jersey – Hudson County Center. The center can be reached at 201-209-2839 or at www.WeAreOneNJ.com.
